God’s Spirit is upon Me
I am anointed to proclaim Good News to you
For all the captives who are blind but long to see
This is your hour; I have come to set you free
And Freedom Means you’re free to choose
A life in Me you’ll never lose
To see through this world’s thin veneer
And know your future isn’t here
To feel the sand between your toes
Get a name nobody knows
To die to self and all its misery
Don’t you know that it’s for Freedom you are free?
Children of the new Jerusalem
Your liberation starts with treasuring this Truth
Why would you want to sin and live in slavery?
If you will trust Me, I will truly set you free
And Freedom Means you’re free to love
To know that knowing Me’s enough
To burn your candle at both ends
And lay your life down for your friends
Free to have a mind that’s pure
To know your future is secure
To look into what angels long to see
Don’t you know that it’s for Freedom you are free?
Fearfully you have tried to fight your sin
Still there has been no Freedom there
I am not asking you to try again
But to join Me in a Holy Love Affair!
And Freedom Means you’re free to care
To see the wind blow through my hair
Free to give your life away
And know it’s gonna be ok
To teach a child to catch a ball
To let Me be your All in All
To no longer try to do, but learn to Be
Don’t you know that it’s for Freedom you are free?
